Today I am going to tell you about a friend of mine, He’s small ( about 20 lbs) ,furry and friendly.He and I jogged together, played fetch, wrestled and irritated each other. When I would get home he would come running to the back door to greet me with jumping and waggling (tail, back end and front end all wiggling in different directions at once). When I’d stay up all night and be laying on the couch he would curl up into the space between my leg and back of the couch and sleep. Somehow he would end up laying on his back getting his belly scratched and involuntarily kick his right back leg.

There are so many stories I could tell about this little dog but it all comes down to he was my little buddy. Unfortunately after fighting a battle with Parvo he passed this morning. Throughout the day after burying him I have been reflecting on all the little moments I and my family had with him. He was a truly loved dog and will be missed for sure.

Time flies by now but stands still at the same time. Now I work a job and one shift will last all day long and feel like two, but the months and years will pass with the blink of my eye. No memory to tell me what happened during that blink save a few fragmented stills in my mind. I watch right now as my youngest daughter and niece run on a playground and I have to remind my self that this active little girl that has enough energy to power a rocket to Pluto and back is that same little girl I once held in my arms wrapped in a blanket feeding her with a bottle.
Time passes so quickly yet so slowly at the same time, when I was her age I do remember the days going on forever but it also seemed like the months did as well. I would wait and wait for birthdays and christmas and other holidays, they would take forever to come. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I swear yesterday felt like it was Halloween. They tell me to enjoy my children while they are this age because soon they will be grown, in this case “They” are right. Soon with this perception of time I shall be an old man, my children grown and the world a much different place then what I or anyone else will realize. Perhaps it is with no surprise seeing the world like this gives rise to my deepest curiosities about time travel. In reality we are traveling through time with no ability to stop, go back or in some cases observe the passinging scenery. At least not without consciously training ourselves to observe the world around us off of our auto pilot.

A bit colder please

As it is getting colder I am finding it extremely hard to motivate myself into getting up early enough to do my usual morning jog, you might say I hit a wall. It may have to do with just being moved and still adjusting. A few weeks ago I walked the property of my sisters new place and I know I didn’t see all of it I only initially went to the far west part of her woods and it I know goes on for a longer way. This actually reminds me that I found another preserve in Jennings county that I didn’t know of and I wanted to check out. I was using a back road coming back from Dupont and happened to see a sign. Perhaps the next weekend I have off. Ill post more about that after I get to do some exploration.

This small town after dark

It’s late, dark, getting colder which means only one thing… I’m still on night shift and the skating is grand. I’ve always loved skating on the streets at night, so very little traffic on the streets and empty parking lots. The sounds of the bearings turning, the board popping on the pavement, the sight of the lamps lighting my path and the smell of the night air getting colder with the change of the season. All so soothing. Even though its late and possibly a bit pass some kind of curfew the police haven’t given me any problems.

I’ve seen a few of them slow to check out whats going on but none have done more then slow. I’m thinking that although there really isn’t a lot of traffic at this time of night an all night coffee shop would be great. Just some place where you could go and get a good cup of Java and have real social interactions. A place where everyone has the same thing in common, coffee and BS’ing. It may just be me and how my family is (if there is a social occasion there is coffee) but I think it would be a great idea that would be a hit.

Its that time of year again. Cool weather, hot pastries, and coffee. Sabrina and I have been making pies lately, pecan and lemon meringue. Im thinking about some coffee cakes here in a week or so. We will be getting pumpkins soon and start making pies and I believe we will be trying our hands at a roll.

A late night walk

As I usually do I went for a walk this evening around the town and it is something to experience. The sights, sounds, smells. Its so quiet and peaceful however its so busy and alive with people running about and getting settled in for the night, Meanwhile I am up for the night so that I can go to work tomorrow night. Until its time for me to head to bed I think I’ll watch some Sherlock Holmes and read choice books

Hidden in North Vernon is a small preserve tucked away on the way out of town heading on HWY 50.The land donated to the county by Louis J. Calli Jr is home to the Charles and Nan Hurley Interpretative trail. The trail loops around through beautiful forest and along side the muscatatuck river. It is quiet and peaceful with a few benches to sit and ponder the various thoughts that may be plaguing the universe.

Coffee, motorcycle handbook, and the sound of silence.

Well here I am sitting at moms drinking coffee and reading through my handbook to get my motorcycle license. It quiet and peaceful… as long as you don’t count the children coming in every once in a while to complain about someone not sharing,lol. So far its been a rather eventful few weeks, I made a t-shirt, an ethernet port tester, and finished a book I was reading.

“A Brief History of Time” by Stephen Hawking was excellent. The book is filled to the brim with information on science and is explained to you in understandable terms with brief moments of humor. I am sure this will be a book that I will be happy to read again and again throughout life.

I ran into an issue a week back that required that I test and trace the wiring of the ethernet ports built into the walls of an office. So off I went to my local Radioshack to get the parts I needed. One 9v battery connector and on piezo buzzed. Taking an old ethernet cable I cut the ends with about 6inch of cable off and proceeded to solder the 9v battery connector to the green and orange wires of one. Ethernet end and then I soldered the piezo buzzer to the green and orange of the other ethernet end. This created a tracer. By plugging the 9v one into the room in question and going to the grid I was able to pin point the office on the grid.
Well that’s all for now, if your curious about the shirt I mentioned i’ll have a picture up soon. First I want to get a store setup to be able to sell them first.

Death of my Facebook account over Asparagus Soup

Yes today I killed my Facebook account… After jumping through the needed hoops, It fell with a FATAL blow from my VORPAL sword. Thankfully as for my pictures and contacts I didn’t want to lose I was lucky enough that I use a Droid and had pretty much been adding my contacts phone numbers and such to my Google account. As for my pictures and such I used Facebooks built in “Download your information” option, it gave me a neat little zip package with all my pix and other pieces of info from my account. I had soup tonight that I must say was most excellent. My father-in-law made the soup and gave me the recipe. It was Asparagus soup. You take the heads of Asparagus and chop them pretty finely then throw them into a pot and add two regular cans of cream of chicken soup and one can of water. heat until the soup is hot. Make sure to stir so as not to scorch the soup. Serve and enjoy.

Time is fleeting or What I did over my one week vacation…

It is almost time for church and it seems like it was just last Sunday when we were getting ready for church and starting this vacation. So much has happened between these Sunday’s, We kept my nieces for a couple days and stayed in Brown County then we took all 7 ( 2 nieces and my littlest sister extra) to ride horses at the Brown County Park. We’ve sat in a hot tub, played pool, taken the kids swimming and had a blast. Then there was Matt’s surgery and hospital stay which sucked. I can say that this week has been interesting and enjoyable but also depressing. It has been a great week though and I loved every minute that I spent with my family. I wish we could have this kind of time together all the time (minus the hospital stays) but unless we hit the lottery I don’t see it happening.
